Even though Cee is very famous now, he is very private about his past and even more so about his race. It is thought that Central Cee, whose real name is Oakley Neil H. T. Caesar-Su, is partly Irish and partly Guyanese. His mother, Rachel Caesar, is from Northern Island, and his father is said to be from Guyana in South America.
Cee is said to have Ecuadorian roots through his father. A few people have thought that he might also be Chinese. ‘Su’ in his hyphenated last name is thought to be a popular Chinese last name. But he hasn’t said anything to confirm or deny the rumours about his race yet.
Cee only talked about his parents by saying that he was raised by his single mother in the West London neighbourhood of Shepherd’s Bush with his three younger brothers and that his father exposed him to hip-hop.
His dad loved music and they would spend time together on the weekends and in the evenings. CEE heard early American rap music from artists like Biggie, Tupac, G-Unit, Wu-Tang Clan, and MF Doom during those trips.
He liked sounds like reggae, dancehall, and garage house as well as hip-hop. In an interview, Central Cee talked about how his father shaped his singing style.
“I didn’t really enjoy music with my mom, but I did when I was with my dad.” It wasn’t often that I saw him, so when I did, I took in everything I could, like the reggae, dancehall, garage, house, and hip-hop music he played. But there wasn’t much from the UK; that was mostly stuff I heard from people my age.
